Frequently asked questions

The report says the site blocked the check. Bot protection (Cloudflare, Akamai and similar) can refuse automated browsers. Allow-list the user agent AccessibilityCheckerWCAG, or test the page in your own browser with the axe DevTools or WAVE extension.

Can it scan pages behind a login, a staging server or localhost? No. Only public pages are scanned; private and internal addresses are blocked.

Zero violations – am I compliant? Not necessarily. Automated rules cannot judge keyboard use, alt-text quality, captions or error messages. Use the manual checklist in the report, and consider an expert audit with users of assistive technology.

Why are the numbers different from Lighthouse or WAVE? Each tool has its own rule set. We run the axe-core WCAG 2.2 A/AA rules only, without "best practice" rules, to keep the list short and relevant.

How do I see what I fixed? After fixing, ask ChatGPT to rescan the same URL. It passes the compare key from the first scan, and the report shows fixed, new and changed rules.

About the scanner

The scanner identifies itself with the user agent suffix AccessibilityCheckerWCAG/0.1. It loads at most 5 pages per request, only when a user asks, and respects robots.txt for the extra linked pages.
